What Are The Benefits of Waxing?

More than just a beauty treatment, waxing actually has some surprising benefits. Even if you’re a regular, you’re probably experiencing positive side effects without knowing!

Put away your razor and say goodbye to shaving rash and razor burn. You’ll never deal with these uncomfortable issues again!

Regular sessions provide nourishment to the skin and maintain that sleek look you love. Much less invasive than treatments like laser hair removal, your body will thank you.

We’re taking a deep dive into the many benefits of waxing you’ll find on the other side of the table!

The many waxing benefits that make it all worth it

This treatment isn’t necessarily pain-free. In fact, if you believe TikTok and popular films, it’s downright excruciating. Done incorrectly, waxing can indeed be a source of discomfort and negative outcomes.

However, if you’re working with an esthetician you trust, you’re in for a treat. Even if you experience discomfort in the first session, it gets better! You’ll reap the benefits with regular treatments and never use that razor again.

Hair comes back finer, thinner, and less frequently

One of the most significant benefits of regular waxing is that you’re actually training your hair! With each treatment, you’re reducing the density and thickness of your fringe. This happens because it removes the hair roots, some of which don’t grow back.

In the beginning, you’ll likely need to schedule every four weeks. But over six months or so, you can space your sessions out. That pain you experienced in your first session will all but vanish!

Irritation only lasts 24 to 48 hours

After waxing, you’ll experience some discomfort. Experts say that removing hair in this manner, by the root, sends similar pain signals to an injury. However, any swelling or discomfort subsides within a few days with the right post-wax care. Once it does, you’ll love the silky-smooth results.

And with regular treatment, you’ll only have to deal with that every four to six weeks. Shaving every couple of days is much more hassle and increases the possibility of nicks.

It is less time-consuming than other methods

The average woman spends 72 days shaving over their lifetime. That’s not an exaggeration! Waxing appointments usually last between 15 and 30 minutes every month or so. Just the time saved alone is worth the treatment!

Imagine all the ways you’ll spend that extra time!

Waxing is an experience you can treat yourself to

Salons like Lux Wax pride themselves on providing a relaxing, pampering experience. Instead of a chore, you’ll look forward to your sessions as a haven. Arrive early and enjoy the ambiance of the studio.I work in a salon suite currently so if they do arrive early they’re waiting in the hall way which isn’t always peaceful.

Quiet music and good conversation are guaranteed!

It benefits the skin with exfoliation and texture evening

Loofahs and exfoliating mitts only do so much when it comes to removing dead skin cells. Waxing removes these dulling cells and brings new ones to the surface.

There’s better access to hard to reach areas

Especially with Brazilian waxes, hard-to-reach areas are the name of the game. If you’re still trying to clean up with a razor or chemical creams, stop! You’re putting yourself through more grief than you need to.

We’re confident that these areas are best treated through waxing. We can even get at your nose hair! I don’t offer nose waxing And, as we noted, more frequent appointments in the early stages means less to remove in the future.

With proper aftercare, ingrown hairs are a thing of the past

One of the most uncomfortable potential side effects of waxing or shaving is ingrown hair. With the proper aftercare, you won’t have to worry! I sell fur products and I would want them to get something like Ingrown Concentrate or Fur Oil to prevent ingrown hairs. Creams with 1% hydrocortisone are proven to reduce the incidence of ingrowns during hair regrowth.

There are also steps you can take before your appointment to reduce ingrowns. In the days leading up to your session, hydrate, exfoliate, and moisturize!

Waxing vs. other methods of hair removal

Let’s look at the differences between waxing and other forms of hair removal. You’ll be surprised at how much better it is!

Shaving vs waxing

The method most of us grew up with is shaving. Using a small razor, you scrape against the skin, removing the hair just below the surface. While this method is standard, it’s got to be repeated every few days.

Waxing removes the hair by the root for a smoother, longer-lasting effect. You also won’t have to deal with the likelihood of nicks and cuts!

Laser hair removal vs waxing

More invasive than waxing, laser hair removal is a modern solution. Nearly painless, the process involves killing the follicle itself. It takes several treatments before you see results.

You’ll have to go back every few years to start again. And the process is very expensive!

Instead of killing off follicles, waxing removes hair from the root and thins it out over time. You’ll enjoy smoother skin and other benefits as well.

Sugaring vs waxing

An ancient Egyptian approach to hair removal, sugaring is most similar to waxing. They both pull from the root and gently exfoliate tender areas. For those with sensitive skin, sugaring may seem less intense. Adding up the pros and cons between the two, you might think they’re just a matter of preference.

For us, the difference comes down to the esthetician. You'll probably have a similar effect in the hands of a highly skilled sugaring practitioner. But the waxing process provides a more consistent and predictable result with more benefits.
