What is Brow Lamination?

Looking at your favorite celebrity’s dramatically full brows, it’s easy to assume they were born that way. The truth is that they’ve probably had a brow lamination done by their esthetician!

In fashion eyebrow shapes have gone through changes over the years. In the last few years, tastemakers focused on full, expressive brows. With the right application of several processes, you can enjoy the look too!

Lamination relaxes your hair with a chemical compound, essentially a perm for your eyebrows. The straightened hairs are then fixed in place with a special perm solution. Once waxed and trimmed, you’ll have a look ready for the red carpet.

We’re looking into the process and benefits of brow lamination today. Settle in and join us on the journey!

What are the benefits of brow lamination?

Fuller brows aren’t always a pain-free proposition. Microblading, permanent makeup, and eyebrow hair transplants are invasive and painful. Brow lamination is a reasonably quick, non-invasive process that results in fuller-looking brows.

While the results aren’t permanent, you’ll still enjoy the look for four to six weeks after your session. For a clean, dramatic brow shape without too much fuss, brow lamination is our go-to.

Brow lamination cost is a bit less compared to the other options, too.

Messy eyebrows benefit a lot from brow lamination

Taming your eyebrows can feel like a full-time job. Shaping unruly hair into an aesthetic shape is a losing battle. Brow lamination helps by aligning the wild hairs in a uniform direction. Even if you’re dealing with the results of hair loss, lamination gives the illusion of full brows.

Sometimes paired with hybrid tinting or a lash lift, brow lamination helps sparse eyebrows take center stage to accentuate your face.

The results are long lasting and immediate

Just like most hair treatments, you’ll see results right away! You’ll enjoy your new brows for up to ten weeks with the proper aftercare and maintenance. Once the lamination is completely gone, you can return and have the process done again.

What is the process of brow lamination

Sometimes called a “brow lift,” lamination straightens out hairs first and then fixes them in that position. An alternative to more permanent and invasive treatments, this process is quick and has consistently excellent results.

If you plan to schedule an eyebrow lamination with your esthetician, here are the essential steps in the process.

The first step should be consulting with your eyebrow specialist

Consulting with your esthetician should always be the first step in the process. They’ll thoroughly review your options and help you make informed decisions about your brows. During this step, they should ask you about any allergies and sensitive skin.

Usually, a patch test is recommended 24 hours before your session to ensure you’re not reacting to the serums if you know that you have sensitive skin.

The first thing applied will be a relaxing cream

If you pass patch testing, you’re ready to move on!

Once you’re in the salon, your esthetician will cleanse the area around your brows. They’re removing makeup and any oils that get in between your hair and the cream. Relaxing cream is applied to your hair, making it flexible.

Then, they use a small brow comb to align hairs and maximize your brows. By opening up the cuticle of the hair, the serum makes it easier to style as desired.

After nine to fourteen minutes, depending on your hair type, they’ll remove the cream. At this point, style is what it’s all about!

Afterwards, your brows will be shaped how you want them

Once the hairs are relaxed, you can brush your brows any way you like. Straight up is the most popular right now and for a good reason. This style will give you the most volume. After you’re happy with the look, your esthetician will apply another serum that fixes the hair in place.

The final step is getting loose hairs removed

Once the brow expert removes the cream, they may use waxing or other techniques to finalize the look. If individual hairs are left behind, tweezers work wonders on laminated eyebrows. Each hair should be placed precisely where you want it because they’re not going anywhere!

Add a brow tint for striking results!

As we mentioned, brow tint is a popular service to pair with lamination. Traditional tinting only stains the hairs themselves. Hybrid brow tinting also stains the skin beneath the hairs for a dramatically full-bodied look.
